What is “live looping?”
“Live looping” is what allows two voices to become twenty, or a single musician to be a one-person band… no backing tracks, all 100% live. Simply put, I use a “loopstation” (in this case, a software program called Ableton Live) to record voices and instruments performing live in short repeating figures called “loops”, and then record additional loops to add more and more layers to the sound. When done at a virtuosic level, beautiful and complex arrangements unfold before your ears: audiences describe it as “magic.”
